Babette's Environmental Tip

Waste Reduction and Recycling

Eagle County's facilities help to make waste reduction and recycling simple and affordable for residents:

Eagle County Landfill -  Fees are collected at the scale for household trash, construction waste, tires, and soils. The fees collected at the landfill help support the various different recycling programs that the Solid Waste and Recycling department has to offer the citizens of Eagle County to include the Household Hazardous Waste program and the Recycling program.

Community Recycle Centers - Free drop-off by residents in Eagle, Gypsum, Edwards, Avon, Vail, and Red Cliff. Materials collected include paper (office paper, newspaper, magazines, junk mail) corrugated cardboard, and comingled bottles and cans (steel cans, aluminum cans, plastics #1-7, glass bottles and jars).  Click here for more information on acceptable items.

Materials Recovery Facility (located at entrance to landfill) - No tipping fee for waste haulers who deliver recyclables to the facility. Materials are sorted, baled, and hauled directly from the MRF to various different mills depending on the material and the market conditions.

Household Hazardous Waste Facility (located at landfill) - Facility accepts electronic waste, automotive fluids, batteries, paint related products, cleaning products, medicines, beauty products, and lawn products.  Click here for disposal requirements for hazardous waste disposal.
