Babette's Environmental Tip
Energy Conservation + Electronic Devices
• Plug electronics into a power strip and turn the strip off when not in use.
• Avoid energy vampires. Home electronics that are plugged in and turned off or in “standby”
mode still use energy.
• Use ENERGY STAR-qualified home electronics and computers.
• Consider purchasing and using a laptop instead of a desktop computer because they use less
energy.
• Using the power management settings on your computer, and setting it to sleep or hibernate
instead of using a screen saver uses less electricity during periods of inactivity.
• Unplug battery chargers when the batteries are fully charged or the chargers are not in use.
Many chargers draw power continuously, even when the device is not plugged into the charger.
